“Made for Tiger Woods” Scottydale Prototype in Pro Platinum finish.

This putter is in 100% original condition and Certified 100% authentic by the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop with “Made for Tiger Woods” indicated on the certificate of authenticity paperwork.

Physical Certificate of Authenticity included.

 

Background – Welded Neck to Conforming Neck Length

In 1996 Tiger when Tiger first turned professional he was using a long neck Scotty Cameron putter…a putter that he would win his first PGA Tour event with. It was far different than the famous Newport 2 GSS that he went on to win 14 Major Championships with, and still uses to this day.

Back in 1996, the specific putter he was using actually caused some controversy….it was said that the neck length on his putter was potentially longer than the maximum length for conforming putters.  To avoid a potential rules violation, Tiger eventually shortened the neck length to conform to the rules.

As you may notice on the neck of the putter on offer, the “E” on “SCOTTYDALE” is almost completely cut off at the weld.  Our best guess is that this was done was so that should Tiger ever use this specific putter in competition, it would ensure that the putter was a conforming length….For reference, the photos below show a different Long Neck Scottydale at full length vs the putter on offer.
Background – Tiger’s Specs Written on Shaft
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this putter (and our personal favorite) is that Tiger’s putter specs are written in marker directly on the shaft…this is an incredible glance back into Tigers early professional days to see what he was potentially using or experimenting with….an incredible thing to geek out over for any serious collector, This is definitely something that separates this collectors piece from others out there. See picture below.
As you can see, the swing weight was D-1, the length was 35 and 3/4 inches, 4 degrees of loft, and lie angle of 69 degrees.
Background – “TIGER” Face Stamping
The final very interesting part of this putter that we want to highlight is the stamping of “TIGER” on the face.  Many other “Made for Tiger Woods” Scotty Cameron putters that pop up for sale on the open market often will have “TIGER WOODS” stamped on the bumpers, or perhaps “TW” stamped on the face towards the toe.  In our experience, it is less common to see “TIGER” stamped on the face, only making this piece that much more incredible!
